A day of conservation at Caveness Ranch, a 655-acre prairie located south of Tenino in Thurston County. It is nestled between a Skookumchuck tributary and Scatter Creek. The Center for Natural Lands Management has been actively restoring this site to its native flora and fauna the past years. The Cavness Ranch has a varied history of logging, cattle farming, Christmas tree production, and agriculture. In 2005, Landowners Otis and Arline entered into a conservation easement agreement to keep the ranch as a "place for the animals" and cease further development.
